Hyundai Elantra: Vehicle identification number (VIN)
Use this section to record contact details for your preferred Hyundai dealership, service advisor, or regional support center.
The vehicle identification number (VIN) is the number used in registering your car and in all legal matters pertaining to its ownership, etc.
The number is punched on the floor under the front passenger’s seat. To check the number, open the cover.
The VIN is also on a plate attached to the top of the dashboard. The number on the plate can easily be seen through the windshield from outside.
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is the fingerprint of your Hyundai Elantra. This unique 17-character code provides essential information about the vehicle’s origin, model year, engine type, and assembly location. It is used for vehicle registration, insurance, recalls, and service history. Knowing where to find and how to interpret your VIN empowers you to confirm authenticity when buying or selling a car. The VIN is commonly stamped on the dashboard near the windshield and on the driver-side door frame. It also plays a role in theft recovery and warranty validation. Treat it like a personal ID for your car—it tells its full story.
