Hyundai Elantra: Wheel replacement
This section provides recommended cold tire pressures for different driving conditions and load levels in your Hyundai Elantra.
When replacing the metal wheels for any reason, make sure the new wheels are equivalent to the original factory units in diameter, rim width and offset.
WARNING
A wheel that is not the correct size may adversely affect wheel and bearing life, braking and stopping abilities, handling characteristics, ground clearance, body-to-tire clearance, snow chain clearance, speedometer and odometer calibration, headlight aim and bumper height.
Summer tires are optimized for warm weather performance and are typically installed on vehicles that prioritize handling and braking precision. They offer excellent grip on both dry and wet roads thanks to their softer rubber compound and sportier tread patterns. However, that same softness becomes a liability in colder temperatures where the material hardens and traction decreases dramatically. Using summer tires in snowy or icy conditions is highly discouraged, as stopping distances and stability are significantly reduced. These tires also tend to wear faster if driven aggressively or on rough surfaces. Hyundai Elantra owners looking for a more dynamic driving experience in warmer climates may opt for these over all-season models. It’s important to store them properly during off-seasons to prevent sidewall cracking or deformation. Regular inspection for uneven wear can extend their lifespan. For drivers who value sharp cornering and crisp response, summer tires are a strong choice. Just be sure to switch back when temperatures drop.
